A Home Sleep Test (HST) is a convenient, comfortable way to test for a sleep disorder like sleep apnea. It takes place in the comfort and convenience of a patient's own home.
Prior to the test, the patient is instructed by a technician on how to use the home-testing machine. The patient then goes home, turns on the machine, and sleeps in his own bed while the machine records metrics like pulse and the effort with which the patient is trying to breathe. It is a simple, comfortable way to ascertain if you are suffering from a sleep disorder.

After your doctor refers you for a HST, a patient care coordinator from Advanced Sleep Medicine Services will contact you to schedule your Home Sleep Test. Please be sure that your physician’s office has your most up-to-date contact information, such as a cell phone, work number and email (if any), so that we can reach you.
If you would like us to contact your doctor to request a sleep study for you, you can also fill out the form below.
Before contacting you to schedule a sleep study, Advanced Sleep Medicine Services verifies your insurance so that we can give you the most accurate information possible about your fiancial responsibility. This may take up to 3 days from the receipt of the request from your physician.
There are two options for receiving your HST device: in-person pick-up from one of our sleep center locations or mail delivery.
If you receive the device in person, you will pick up the HST device the day before your sleep study from a sleep technician who will show you how to use the device.
If it is sent by mail, the machine will be shipped to you directly. Once you are finished with the machine, you will ship it back to us. You never even have to leave your home!
The HST device is fairly simple to set up. This video explains how to set up and operate the device.
In addition, the morning after you schedule your appointment, you will receive an email with detailed instructions about how to self-administer the home sleep test. Plus, if you pick up the device in person, you will have a live technician walk you through how to use the device and answer any questions you may have.
Please use the test on the night you received it. It is very important that you keep your return appointment or ship the device back to us as soon as possible. If for any reason you cannot test on the first night, please contact our scheduling department at (877) 775-3377.
Stick to your normal bedtime routine so that you can get a full night's sleep. We will have live technicial support available from 8-11PM on the night of your study (call 877-117-3377 ext. 180). If your normal bedtime is outside of this timeframe, you may want to try setting up the device beforehand so that you can call us if you have any questions.
The results of your sleep study will be compiled and interpreted by an ASMS sleep specialist, or forwarded to your own physician for interpretation if that option is chosen, in about 7 to 10 days from the completion of your study. Your physician will contact you once the results are ready. For more information, watch our video on what happens after a sleep study.
ASMS will send you a packet of information via US Mail or email as soon as your study has been scheduled. This packet will include detailed information about what to expect during your sleep study and how to prepare for it.
You can also contact ASMS to speak to a patient care coordinator at (877) 775-3377 if you have any questions about your study.
And as always, feel free to contact us through our website.
