Dr. Shirisha Janumpally is a board-certified neurologist and sleep specialist. She is also a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Neurology and American Medical Association. She has worked in both academic and community settings as a neurologist and sleep medicine specialist.
Dr. Janumpally grew up in southern California. She went to medical school in the Midwest and came back to southern California to complete her training. She completed her internship at Loma Linda University Medical center in Internal medicine. Subsequently she completed her neurology residency and sleep medicine training at University Of California-Irvine (UCI) Medical Center.
During her residency her research focus was on the role of dopamine agonists (which are used to treat restless leg syndrome) in causing impulse control behavior disorders. Following her training she worked as a sleep medicine attending physician as well as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at UCI Medical Center. Her clinical interests include sleep related breathing disorders, parasomnias, and circadian rhythm disorders.
