Having a sleep disorder like sleep apnea is a serious health issue. It can affect not only your sleep patterns, but also how you function during the day. It can even lead to serious health problems like heart strain, mental exhaustion, and even traffic accidents

But testing can determine if you are affected by a sleep disorder--and now, having a sleep test is easier than ever with the option of a Home Sleep Test.

Traditionally, sleep studies have been done by a doctor in a sleep center. However, current technology now allows people to complete the test themselves, in their own home.

These Home Sleep Test track your breathing at night to check for any pauses or difficulty breathing, which could indicate sleep apnea. The test is fairly simple--you get the equipment from your doctor, set it up yourself, and complete the test. It's a simpler, easier way to have a sleep test!

Why should I have a Home Sleep Test?

1. Comfort.

Taking the test in your own home allows you to sleep in a familiar, comfortable environment. This helps many people focus on sleeping, not the test.

2. Accuracy.

Because home tests allow you to sleep in the comfort of your own home, results tend to be more accurate. When people complete the test in a sleep center, the first night is often a little unfamiliar and uncomfortable, which can impact the results. This issue is eliminated with the at-home option.

3. Accessibility.

Those who are home-bound, such as elderly people or those with chronic illnesses, can have easy access to the health data they need. The equipment can be sent to your own home in such cases, and the test can be conducted without having to leave your residence.

4. Convenient scheduling.

The home test can be completed at any time, allowing people to complete it on their own schedule. Making an appointment for a night in a center can take up to a few weeks, but a home test can be done as soon as equipment is acquired.

5. Cost.

Home testing is a fraction of the cost of testing in a lab. Those who may not be able to afford the full test in a sleep-center may be able to afford the less expensive home option.
